Improved math layout
Several improvements for equations displayed with math layout:
- In the Properties > Math Layout tool, new option for unit multiplication symbol, for example to customize the displayed token to be a middle dot.
- The DotProduct and CrossProduct functions are now represented with the respective symbol.
- Null units are now always properly represented as a plain number with no unit.
- When lowercase functions are set to on, trigonometry functions with exponents are now rendered as sin2, cos2, etc.
- For equations whose result is a symbolic function, such as derivatives, the result is now properly shown as a function.
Default * token for multiplication will remain for now, to correspond to formula input, but this will be reviewed in the future. For now, style rules are encouraged if other defaults are preferred.
Resizing images
For images in a document, it is now possible to resize simply by dragging the grips when the image is selected.
For images that have been resized away from their original aspect ratio, there are now tools in the right-click menu to snap the width or height back to the original aspect ratio.
Units
Number unit suggestions are now shown for plain values in cells (not just formulas now), and default units (whether from prior value or cell above) are easier to discard.
The knot unit is now included.
Style rules
In the Style Manager, new buttons to move styles up or down, and there is improved logic to give precedence to intended style rules.
It is now possible to clear assigned styles by right clicking any style tool, either in the Properties window or in the Style Manager, and clicking Clear Style.
Build-in functions
The IsError function now works correctly for all types of errors.
The Derivative function has been improved to handle more types of symbolic derivatives.
Excel add-in
This release makes a change to how the Excel add-in is installed. To install the Excel add-in, go to Settings, and in the section for the Excel add-in click Install. You will need to follow this step even if you had the Excel add-in installed previously.
This release includes stability updates and limited new features for the Excel add-in. Some features remain disabled with this release, but they will be restored in later releases this year.
This release fixes an issue that caused the overall Blockpad application to be flagged by some anti-virus scanners due to a library used by the Excel add-in.
Small feature changes
- When inserting table rows or columns, if multiple rows or columns are selected, that number of rows or columns is now inserted.
- After deleting the content of table cells, the original selection is now preserved.
- It is now possible to delete or rename custom templates within the New File tool by right clicking on custom template tiles.
- If you click equation and new name is assigned (like value1), the created name is now shown by default.
- Engineering notation, as an option under scientific notation in Value Format.
- While inputting points while drawing, annoations displayed now reflect any text input such as distances or coordinates.
- Improved messages for errors with build-in functions.
- Improvements to importing Mathcad files.
- Improvements to script frames.
Bug fixes
- Fix to issue that locked the program for a long time after running Select All on spreadsheet, then Copy.
- Fix to issue causing program to crash after deleting embedded resources.
- Navigating to correct paragraphs now works when following links, and the frame now scrolls to show the heading at the top.
- Fix to issue with setting page break properties to None.
- Editing now allowed after Save As on read-only files such as example files.
- Fix to issue with running Save As Template for file with external references.
- For fields with option list and show name on, name is now properly retained when value is changed
- Fix to issue that caused some files to save blank content in event of rare errors.
