With the Auto Insert Expressions tool, you can insert formula calculations into a report by typing in an equals sign.
Dynamic expressions are objects in a report frame that hold formulas, where you do calculations. When Auto Insert Expressions is on, a dynamic expression is inserted whenever an equals sign is typed. When Auto Insert Expressions is off, the Insert tool or text to expression must be used.
Toggle Auto Insert Expressions:
- Click the Auto Insert Expressions button in the toolbar.
Another option:
- Select Write>Auto Insert Expressions in the toolbar.
Notes:
- Exit a dynamic expression by pressing the esc key.
